It is my proud privilege to present to you all the successes of Giridih police in controlling the crime and naxals. We, Giridih poilce seek the co-operation of all the citizens against antisocial elements and naxals. You not only help the police by providing us with vital information about criminals in the neighbourhood but also make society a much safer place to live in.
Giridih was carved out of Hazaribag as a revenue district on the 4th of December, 1972. It is bounded on the north by the district of Jamui and part of Nawada district of Bihar, on the east by the districts of Deoghar and Jamtara, on the south by the districts of Dhanbad and Bokaro and on the west by the districts of Hazaribag and Koderma. The famous Parasnath hill (The SAMMED SHIKHAR JEE) is situated here. The Parasnath hill is the highest peak of the state of Jharkhand having an altitude of 4431 feet above sea -level. The district is also famous for ruby and mica mines and various coal fields. Since time immemorial the Parasnath hills have been a symbol of 'ahimsa' where 22 tirthankars achieved nirvana but today these hills are being used by the naxals as their places of shelter. They conduct training and planning here to carry out violent and subversive activities in districts like Giridih, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribag, etc. and later they take shelter in these hills. Due to this all development activities have come to a standstill in this area. It’s time that people realize the true motives of the naxals' nefarious designs and come forward to help the police so that these hills again become the symbol of 'ahimsa paramo dharma'. Peace and harmony symbolize Giridih's past. The famous Langta Baba shrine at Kharagdiha is the symbol of communal harmony where thousands of devotees of Hindu and Muslim community visit every year to worship. However, in the past few years certain anti-social elements have tried to create disharmony by creating communal discord. It is important that we identify such people amongst us and put them behind bars before they succeed in their plans.
The district police is always ready to help people. The common man can communicate his problems by directly meeting the officers or through telephone at their respective offices and residences. It is the right of the complainant to get the copy of the case registered by him. If the Thana refuses to register the case, one can contact senior officers. People are requested not to take law into their own hands but to get their problems solved legally through administrative channels. The police are against the thought process and activities of the naxals and criminals as the common
man suffers as a result of their subversive and negative thoughts and activities. It is important to change this thought process. People of Gawan, Tisri and Deori have taken the first step towards changing the thought process and very soon this will be the overwhelming feeling all over Jharkhand. Just to arrest this trend, the Naxals have resorted to killing the innocent and have carried out incidents like massacres at Bhelwaghati & Chilkhari. Giridih police is committed to protect the human rights of one and all. |

24 important Naxal activists have been arrested in the district. Land- mines, gelatin sticks and Naxal literature were recovered and two store houses of the Naxal outfit were demolished. In the past two months we detected four dacoity gangs and arrested them and almost controlled road dacoity and robberies. Giridih Police is organizing many community policing programmes. Many Civic Action Programmes like running medical camps, distribution of Dhotis, Sarees and organizing Friendly Football Tournaments were implemented by the police in order to win popular goodwill and confidence in naxal infested areas. We are planning to provide training to unemployed youths from the remote villages and make them capable and successfully compete in recruitment tests conducted by the Police/CPMF/Army organisations. Police is always ready to fight with the naxals and expects people to give timely information to us and make it a peaceful place. It is with the cooperation of all people of the district that we can make our district a peaceful area to live in and we need support from all of you and provide information to police to control naxals and criminals. |
