Motto of Godda police is to serve the people of this district with all the resources at the disposal. The district police is always alert to the various criminal activities in the area and has taken steps to apprehend the anti-social elements so that a relatively peaceful atmosphere is generated. The district of Godda was carved out of the then Godda sub-division of the Santhal Pargana District in 1983. The district is bound on the north by Sahibganj, on the west by Banka of Bihar and on the south by Dumka and on the east by Sahibganj and Pakur. Godda police has been working in close co-operation with the neighbouring districts' police and the neighbouring state .Periodical meetings with the neighbouring district police chiefs have greatly helped in increasing co-operation thereby ensuring that criminals can't take advantage of the administrative boundaries.Cases related to heinous offences have been selected for fast -track trial which has ensured speedy justice and made the criminals realise the long arms of law. There has been sharp increase in the number of cases registered in the police stations which reflects the renewed public trust in police functioning. Godda Police is trying to
reduce the public-police gap through community policing. Godda police is commited to the primary task of reaching out to all sections of the society and has been promoting sports events to bring out young talents. In order to generate awareness among the local women, seminars have been held and Mahila Samities have been formed at Police Station level. Family matters are being disposed of by these Samities through counselling. During the program medical camp was organized. In the camp medicines were distributed and health check-up was performed. During the past one year Godda police has achieved remarkable success against the criminals. The major crimes in the district include murder, burglary, theft and highway robbery. With the active cooperation of general public, district police will be able to prevent crime and maintain law and order. We will ensure that we continue to work as a people friendly police force. |
 |
As a Superintendent of police, I earnestly wish to provide fool proof crime control system and to make people live in peace and tranquility. Godda police is making untiring efforts in protecting the innocents, punishing the culprits, caring for victim and acting fairly in favour of all law-abiding citizens. Our motive to accelerate the criminal justice system by protecting the life, liberty and dignity of the downtrodden people of the district will continue as ever.
The district only thriving industrial unit (a coal producing unit as Rajmahal project in Lalmatia) is the main sustenance of the local population. Other industrial activities such as Jindal Power Plant, Jindal Coal project are also likely to operate in the district in near future. We provide utmost support and security to the industrial unit and wish success to them. I hope the industrial units will accelerate great economic activities in ameliorating the distress of the common people of the district.
Although this District is still far from clutches of Naxalism, which is by product of illiteracy and unemployment, particularly educated unemployment. The disparity in society, the gap between haves and have-not must be bridged, if really, we want all round development of all sections of society.
Where, We stand , where we work, what is allowted us to do- We have to do with all sincerity and honesty then only we can do justice to our family, our society, our district, our state and country and ultimately to whole world.

Godda has been sensitive and crime prone district so far as crime and communalism is concerned due to demographic structure. Murder due to land disputes and factional rivalries among criminals occur most often in Lalmatia and Mahagama Coal belt areas. But presently crime on all front has decreased due to sustained efforts of police activities in rural as well as town areas. western part of the district is more susceptible to the criminals due to border district of Banka and Bhagalpur in Bihar.
Naxal activities in the district is almost negligible. Uptil now there is no apparent organisational activities or armed squad movement in the forest area of Boarijore/ Sunderpahari. The chief of Santipal Gut Chimat Roy, who has been quite active in naxal killings and arson in eighties and nineties in Meharma and Thakurgangati P.S. is now underground. CPI(M) may try to spread their terrorist ideology in the forest areas in Sunderpahari/ Boarijore underground organisational activities of CPI(M) must have been continuing and influencing the uneducated and jobless. People in their fold have totally rejected the idea of Shantipal Gut which is in a dormant stage. No naxal violence has been noticed since 2001. In order to nail the criminals, continuous raids, LRP, special operation are being conducted in the forest of Sunderpahari/ Boarijore.
People of the district is by and large very peaceful and law abiding. Tribal populace is also quite peace loving

|
 |
Keeping in mind the immediate danger created by naxal activities all the police stations and outposts of this district have been alerted to counter anti-socials. All the police stations have been fenced with boundary walls. District arms and ammunitions magazine is in the Town police station Campus of this district which is kept under strong vigil. Seventy seven Constables, Eighteen Havaldar and Seven jamadar have been trained as S.T.F to counter the naxal activities in the district.
Seventy eight newly recruited constables are undergoing a special jungle warfare training in Netarhat. The trained constables will sufficiently and adequately strengthen the security scenarios the district.
Two new police building are being constructed in Boarijore P.S. and Poraiyahat P.S. as per security measures. These new building may be ready within four months and will enhance the security scenario of the concerned Police stations.
Although the district has seven original police Stations viz- (1). Godda (2) Porayahat (3) Sunderpahari (4) Pathargama (5) Mahgama (6) Boarijore (7) Meharma, five subsidiary Police Stations viz (1) Godda Muffasil (2) Deodand (3) Lalmatia (4) Belbada (5) Thakurgangti are also functioning and awaiting to be upgraded by the govt. Many police Stations have fortified morchas and their fenced boundaries except Thakurgangti/ Belbada P.S.
Proposal of seven new outpost such as 1. Rajabhitta 2. Bisha Pahar 3. Dande 4. Bhagaiya 5. Hanwara 6. Ghatiyari 7. Damru has been sent to the Police headquarter.

Community Policing:-Godda Police has organized several Police Public functions and distributed blankets, Sari, Dhoti, among the poor persons. Two day tournament of football match was also organized in tribal and Paharia dominated villages in Sunderpahari Police Stations. The Police activities in remotest villages created a friendly atmosphere between Police and Public. On
15th August, the district Police has organized a football match between girls schools in Godda Gandhi Maidan and handsome prizes such as track suits, trophy, football nets etc. has been distributed among winners and looser almost equally. Prizes were distributed by D.C and other important officials just to enhance the moral of the children. This activity was a part of community Policing to bolster the moral of public as well as small school going girls. This step of Godda Police was widely appreciated by media as well as intellectuals.
