Jamtara police is committed to maintain this beautiful place as an abode of peace and create an environment for the growth and prosperity to all. Geographically, Jamtara is surrounded by West Bengal (Birbhum), Dumka,
Giridih and Dhanbad .since the district shares its boundary with these districts which are facing naxal activities, they are trying to gain a foothold in Jamtara also. In this district not a single naxal violence incident has been reported yet but it gives us no excuse to be complacent. LRPs,SRPs
and through community policing the district police is able to stop the menace coming inside. JAP-5 is helping the district police with all its efforts. The major crimes in the district include murder, burglary, theft and highway robbery. During the past one year Jamtara police has achieved remarkable success against the criminals. Not a single incident of road dacoity, bank dacoity have been reported till September this year (2008). In the field of community policing Jamtara Police is performing many activities in the distant & inaccessible villages of the district. During these programs medical camps have also been organized. In these camps medicines are distributed free of cost and health check-up is performed. We also organized a feast for the local residents. With these efforts, district Police has won the faith of citizens and they have come closer to us. Jamtara police is commited to maintain public order, to give prompt and compassionate response to every call of citizens in distress. |

I, first congratulates the citizen of this district for their active co-operation with the police . This mutual police public relationship has proved to be a milestone in the development of a peaceful atmosphere in the region. This district Police functions with 04 police stations, 03 subsidiary police stations and 02 outposts. Though the ratio of police force compared to the population is quite less but the district police has tried its level best to keep the crime under control. For this, the citizen of district as well as the jawans and officers of the police force deserve congratulations. In addition to West Bangal in the East, Jamtara district shares its boundaries with Deoghar district in the North, Dumka district in the North east and Dhanbad district in the North East and Gridih district in South East . It is the endeavour of district police that inter-state and inter-district criminals do not find a safe heven in this district after committing crimes in the adjoining bordering areas . For this,we keep round the clock vigilance and co-operation from good citizens of the district . I strongly hope that this tradition will continue in the future. On communal front some old problems of Narayanpur P.S. and Mihijam P.S. areas were successfully solved with the constructive approach of citizen of the area for which they deserve my heartiest congratulations. It was lately reported that some youth of Narayanpur & Kundhit block (which is adjacent to West Bangal’s Birbhum District.) were misguided by vested interested organization on some wrong ideology. The district police, in co-operation with the public, through community policing organized various programmes in different areas and succeeded in bringing them back in the national main stream, the efforts still continuing. I, firmly believe that there is always scope for reform. The district police is bound to ensure the successful rehabilitation of such strayed youths by legal and constitutional means.
Thanking the people of the district again, I request the tourists and the people to tour this beautiful place without fear and enjoy the places of tourist attraction.

Jamtara district was previously affected with the extremist activities, taking place in its bordering areas such as Ahilyapur P.S. of Giridih district in the west and Tundi P.S. of Dhanbad district. Although some initial stages of naxalite activities have been reported from the Eastern part of the district, there has not been any report of the movement of armed naxalite bands. However there are sporadic reports of the movement stay and meetings of armed extremist groups of 20-30 persons from the western past of the district (Narayanpur P.S.). Thus the bordering areas of Narayanpur P.S. and Kundahit P.S. are affected with Naxalite activities, where this movement is trying to set roots. To counter such activities, effective measures are taken by gathering information through L.R.P., S.R.P. and community policing . In this context, taking the help of the west Bangal police, wanted criminal Jitendra Nath Bhandari, S / O (Late) Sharat Chandra Bhandari, resident of vill. Jaipur, P.S. Rajnagar, dist- Birbhum (W.Bengal) was arrested from his house. He was wanted under case No. 63 / 06 dated 28.08.2006 of Kundahit P.S. under sec. 17 C.L.A. Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention ) Act 1967 Sec. 10 /13. According to previous informations, this person was engaged in organizational activities in favour of CPI (Maoist), MCC (I) . He, along with his co-workers was active now and then in writing posters. On the basis of confessional statement of the above mentioned accused Jitendra Nath Bhandari, raids were carried out in vill- Jitudih, and vill- Asnalia under Kundahit P.S. Raids were carried out on the houses of (1) Madan Koda, S/O (Late) Mahadev Koda (aged about 55 years), (2) Sadhu Charan Ghosh, S/O Amulyo Ratan Ghosh (aged about 55 years), and (3) Mantu Bagti, S/O Jyoti Bagti. In course of the raids and search operations huge quantities of Extremist literature and brushes for writing posters were recovered. Mantu Bagti was successful in escaping but Madan Koda and Sadhu Charan Ghosh were arrested and sent to jail. During the interrogation of and on the basis of the confessional statements of the accused, it has come to light that the C.P.I.(Maoist) M.C.C.(I) has been trying to strengthen its organization in the areas of Jamtara district bordering W. Bengal. For this they have organized “KRANTIKARI KISSAN Committee” “ and “ MAHILA MUKTI MANCH” in five villages of Kundahit P.S. namely Jhabda, Dolabar, Fara Kusum, Mangraidih and Shrimatdih. In Phootberia Golpur and Belejor area of Masalia P.S., dist- Dumka organizational activities were taking place . It is reported that a person named Kanchan Singh from Giridih and some persons and ladies from West Bengal visit there areas time to time help & organize these activities. On the basis of these informations obtained from the arrested persons, recovery of banned literature and case no. 110/07 dated 27.09.2007 of Kundahit P.S. under Sec. 17 C.L.A. Act & 10/13 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, investigations are being carried out. Helped by the statements of arrested persons, effective steps are being taken to curb the propaganda activities of M.C.C.(I) organization.
