Palamu Police has a long history of tackling crime since its establishment in 1892. And since 1987-88 when n a x a l i s m raised its ugly head, Palamu Police has been at the forefront in tackling this menace. This is indeed a golden opportunity to interact with the law abiding citizens of Palamu who have a long drawn history and cultural traditions. But unfortunately it has been facing security challenges for quite some time be it naxal menace or land disputes, to name a few. It's now the right time for us to counter these challenges and rout the law offenders and felons.
The whole of Palamu district is severely affected by Maoist extremism. Many innocent civilians, policemen and officers have lost their valuable lives and some have become permanently disabled. However now its high
time that the real motives of naxalites be exposed. Their interest lies in collecting levy from contractors and siphoning off the government funds meant for development of masses. It is important to note that hardcore ultras are sending their children to the expensive educational institutions
and building palatial houses in the big cities on one hand. On the other, they damage the school buildings and roads in the villages. They make false promises to the masses, thus giving rise to anarchy in the state while they are neck deep involved in money laundering. They propagate a ruling system which can't match the the flexibility exhibited by the democratic system.Even Public has become aware of hollowness of their ideology and tired of exploitation by them. This year two naxalites were killed by the public in the district We have been on the right track and have achieved success in our attempts towards enhanced security environment but still we have miles to go. There is desperate need of the hour that Police and the common citizen should join hands to combat criminals. Some years ago, the situation in the district regarding the naxal front was such that the police did not dare to move in the jungle areas. At present Police has got no hesitation to move or to act against the extremists even in the forested, hilly tracts of the district. The naxalites are on the run and their ranks are highly de motivated. After the formation of Jharkhand state, modern equipments eg. Anti-landmine vehicles, bullet proof vehicles, modern weapons etc. have been made available by the government to fight the maoists. These modern equipments have raised
the moral of the district police. Many prominent naxalites have been killed
or arrested by the district police. Fire arms, ammunition, explosive, gelatin, detonator, wireless sets, tents, naxal literatures, naxal uniforms etc. were also recovered in large quantity. Several arms looted from public and police have been recovered.
Also the district police has recently launched a mass movement in the remote and far- flung areas to appeal to the common people to join the mainstream of the society. The Community Policing is proving a very supportive tool in winning the confidence of the villagers. Within last few months blankets, saree, dhoti, books, copies, body wear, sports goods like footballs, volleyball, net , cricket bats, etc. among people and the children were distributed at various places. In Hussainabad area a moram
road was also constructed by the police. Many such other works are also being taken up regularly. Good response from the public towards these welfare programmes is being seen. |

Palamu Police is equally committed towards the welfare of its rank and file. In Palamu there is a police hospital also sanctioned and available. In the recent past two police stations- Manatu and Paton have been constructed. Very soon we will have newly constructed State Of The Art Building for more Police Stations namely Bishrampur, Chainpur, Panki, and Hariharganj. Palamu Police is trying it's best to form it's image as a public welfare organization and we are sure that in coming days we will turn into a public friendly security paradigm to emulate.
Khunti police is working mainly to bridge the gap between police and public so that cultivation of sources and collection of information is possible in the newly formed district thereby Khunti police can make the society crime free. |

Dear law abiding citizens of Palamu, this is indeed a golden opportunity to interact with you through this message. Palamu has been a town with its own long drawn history & cultural traditions. It is full of bounty of nature and has heritage of a glorious civilization.
But unfortunately it has been facing security challenges for quite some time be it naxal menace or the land disputes, to name a few. It’s now the right time for us to rise up to counter these challenges,
The Police of Palamu is dedicated to serve the common man and to help them in moments of distress. Its our constant endeavor to maintain law and order, curb crime, generate respect for right of individual & basic inalienable human rights. Moreover we assure you to provide a milieu of peace & tranquility to lay a sound platform for development.
We have been on the right track and have achieved some success in our attempts towards the secured environment but still we have miles to go. There is a desperate need of the hour that the police & common citizen join hands to combat criminals. In this direction we further need an ice breaking between the police and common man. The common man should consider police its friend and should not hesitate to share their problems. They should share information about any possible security threat so that it can be neutralized at the earliest.
Remember together we can and we will make difference and I am sure that in the coming days Palamu will turn into a security paradigm to emulate.
