In the present day society, problems have been analyzed threadbare. The problems which have been highly complex in nature are confronted by our Police on day to day basis. These are challenges that arise out of social transformation, migration, urbanization, violence against women and a host of other issues. Simdega Police is working with utmost dedication and determination in tackling all these problems. Simdega is one of the richest districts in terms of forest resources and known for its natural beauty. But, in these days, these jungles and hills provide shelter to naxals. Till the year 2001, no naxal movement was noticed in this district. After 2001, gradually naxals' activities started picking up as the district shares borders with Orissa, Chattisgarh, Gumla,
Khunti and East Singhbhum. Regular patrolling is carried out to dominate the area and special operations are carried out on specific information. Motor cycle born quick reaction teams (QRT) have been formed which have very less reaction time. Here, the incident of Bansjor O.P. is worth mentioning. On the day of 2nd January,2008, naxals attacked Bansjor O.P. in large number with fire arms, bombs, petrol bombs, etc,. But our police personnel fought valiantly and retaliated back so that naxals had to flee away. I am very happy to mention 13 police personnel who fought bravely were were given out of turn promotions and 6 home guards were given the police constables' jobs. In the recent past, many naxals were arrested by Simdega Police and arms and ammunition were recovered in considerable number. Even though, Simdega Police is giving much time for tackling naxal problem, it is not lagging behind in keeping crime under control and maintaining law and order which are bedrock for the function of Policing. Common people of Simdega are simple and docile and therefore the crime rate of district is very low. But, as NH- 23, which connects Orissa and Jharkhand, passes through Simdega and maximum length runs through jungles, road robberies and road dacoities are reported frequently. With regular " ghati" patrols and joint operations with Orissa Police, this road-borne crime was kept under control. Police in a democratic polity can discharge its duties effectively only with the co-operation of the people. Public assistance is needed for prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of cases, and also for maintaining peace . To succeed in this task of building good rapport with the public, Simdega Police is doing massive community policing work and distributed many articles for needy people. In this year 2008, we took a commendable step by adopting one village each by every police station in the district. This type of Community Policing in the district started yielding the desired results as public stared co-operating with police. With conviction, I can say that Simdega Police is striving hard to live up to the heightened demands for better security while meeting the strictures of a criminal justice system there by creating crime- free society to live in. |

The time is changing in positive direction with great speed. There is clear sign of growth and development in each and every field. Village is changing, town is changing. We all are heading towards a safe and prosperous society. The rapid progress of our state and the country has envied many who believe in the cult of gun. They cannot tolerate and digest the happiness of our people. They want to disrupt it even at the instigation of alien forces who used to be traditional enemy of our society. In the name of a rotten and fossilized doctrine they are propagating violence, hallucinating our innocent youth and are doing their best to harm fraternity, social harmony, unity and integrity of our country. I request passionately, especially to the youths of the district to keep away from the traps laid by these anti national and antisocial organizations. Simdega police is always with you to defeat these demons. Your support, co-operation and recognition is our strength.
In recent years some other hardcore criminal groups in different names are threatening the safety of the life and property of our common people. We are conscious about them also. We promise that we will eliminate them from the district very soon.
Your support is our asset. We are planning to get it, hot only through our traditional work but also through "Community Policing". Under this scheme we are going to organize different community development programmes by sponsoring educational, cultural and economic activities on a large scale. We are going to adopt one village in each Police station for development and one village per police station is being selected under "Nirmal Gram Yojna" for taking up sanitation works. Besides we are going to appoint 112 youths as Special Police Officers (SPO’s) in the whole district to serve you better.
Let us work for the safe and prosperous SIMDEGA.

Up to the year 2001, no naxal incident took place in the district. But after 2001, gradually naxal movement increased. Now all seven police stations in this district are naxal affected ones. Collecting levy from businessmen and contractors, killing the people, on denial of giving levy, attacking police stations for arms and ammunition, laying land mines, etc, by naxalites came into the light. On 2-1-08, naxals attacked Bansjor out post but police retaliated with courage and determination so that naxals failed completely in executing their plan. Recently, JLT became active in Bano. Bolba, Kolebera and Jaldega areas.
