This battalion is different from other battalions created in Jharkhand on the pattern of women battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, according to which the posts for signal staff Inspector(R.O cipto), sub-Inspector(R-O), Head constable (R.O cipto), Assistant Sub-inspector(R.M) and Head constable(Havildar) are approved. This Battalion is deputed in naxal affected districts like Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribag and Ranchi. In addition to this, forces are deputed in important Govt. buildings like Project building (Jharkhand Mantralaya) and Birsa Munda Centr al Jail. This  battalion is successfully performing duty in several law and order and crime control indiffrent districts. It is also deputed regularly during Assembly session at Vidhan Sabha Ranchi. One Coy of this battalion is performing duty in Birsa Munda Central jail in Ranchi since long time which is probably the only one example in India. It has waited a long time to creat a separate battalion for women, who could look after general law and other order problems of women, in the society as well as naxal prone areas. After reviewing this problem Jharkhand Govt. had decided to creat a separate battalion for women, according to Memo No. 106 Dated 29.8.2002 of Deputy Secretary Home Department, Jharkhand and issued an order for creation of Mahila Battalion by notification No. 4077 dated 27.4.04 and thus Battalion came into existence.

Intially it was started in Modern bakery Hall in Dhurwa. After three an half years, this battalion shifted in a new building at Hotwar about 15 k.m north from Ranchi beside Birsa Munda Central Jail Ranchi.

SECURITY SCENARIO
The headquarter of this battalion is situated 15 k.m. north from Ranchi at Hotwar. The proposed Khel gaon is being built near this battalion. The headquarter has CO residence, Kitchen Plaza, Dy S.P.residence/ Medical officer residence, Officers guest house, U.S. guesthouse, two barracks of constable for 150 beds, 1 L.S quarter of 16 families, 1 U.S. quarters for 16 family, 1 servant quarter CO. office and 1 Magazine. The battalion is surrounded by boundrywall East part of battalion is very lonely, where a small river flows and villagers come through a narrow road. This is vital point of security in West portion of Birsa Munda Central Jail, where many hard core, extremists and noted criminals are in side this Jail. Many people are visiting to meet them daily. So it cannot be denied from security point of view that those persons who come to meet them can be threat for this battalion. Many constructions works are going on this premises of battalion, so labourers and other persons come inside premises should regularly be watched from security point. In north and south part of battalion a proposed khelgaon is being constructed, so thousands labourers are working day-night beside this battalion. It is also Important for security point of view that some watchtowers should also be made in all directions of the boundrywall.
