Sixth Battalion of Jharkhand Armed Police was constituted by the erstwhile Bihar Govt. in year 1971 as Bihar Military Police 11 on 1/4/1971.Initially it started functioning from BMP-5 Campus at Patna. On 12/02/1975 this battalion shifted to Jamshedpur in foundry campus. In February,19 88  it was shifted to Baridih and since then it is functional at the present location. The campus has its own office, parade ground, sports ground, armoury, barracks and family accommodations.

1. As ordered by the DGP one coy of this Battalion has been designated as Rapid action Police(RAP) for riot control, which is adequately trained for this purpose.

2. JAP-6 is also recognized as Central Training School ( CTS ). This school has organized training programmers for foundational course, SLR training , ACP I and II training, senior promotional course, foundation course for lady constables.

   The officers and constables of this battlion have been deployed for the anti naxal operations in various parts of the state for last 35 years. This force was also deployed for the

Special health camps were organized for the forces in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur where senior doctors from TMH and MGM Medical College treated the jawans and every jawans, officer and menials have been provided with the individual health card indicating detailed record of the health of the individual including blood grouping.

Special health team headed by Dr.K.K.Sehgal visited all the pickets of this Battalion and got malaria tests conducted for all the jawans posted there. Rapid Diagnostic Kits were also provided to all the field units for early detection and treatment of malaria. In addition efforts are made through counselling and treatment to prevent  communicable diseases among the forces.

Special training of jawans was organized to provide training first aid training through Civil Defense, Jamshedpur. This will be particularly useful for jawans in case of emergency. Every platoon is also provided with the first aid kit containing essential medicines and other items.

School

Bal Bharti school is being run by the Battalion where 414 students are studying in class I to VII. Children from nearby areas are also benefited through this school. Students are provided Mid day meal at the school and also the SC/ST  students are provided scholarships.

Canteen/Milk booth

A canteen and a Milk booth are run in the campus for the benefit of the jawans at the Battalion. The income from this is deposited in the Welfare Fund.

Sit and draw competition was organized for the children of the jawans and school students.

To improve the sporting skills inter company sports are organized every month at the campus.

Art of Living course : Special 6 day Art of Leaving Course is organized for the jawans at the campus from 16/01/2008, which will help them to combat stress and lead a meaningful life.
